Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and manage administrative, labor, plant, material, and contract resources to achieve desired quality, effectiveness, cost, and timeliness of programs and projects.
  • Liaise with works coordinators, administrators, and employees to ensure effective control and exercise operational responsibility with implementation of the council's works program.
  • Liaise with other authorities on technical matters associated with council's construction and maintenance projects.
  • Exercise initiative and make good judgments, accommodating political and organizational sensitivities.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of appropriate awards to ensure good human resource management within the role.
  • Consult with public utility organizations on technical issues in carrying out manual work where necessary.
  • Responsible for materials, tools, equipment, plant, and vehicles used by employees and others under the position's supervision.
  • Authorize repairs in the absence of the works manager.
  • Coordinate and monitor all works programs to ensure they are completed to council specifications and costs, monitoring quality control/assurance procedures, and to recognize and correct quality deviations and/or faults, including work of other employees.

Requirements:

  • White card
  • Minimum 6 months' experience within a similar local government supervisory role
  • Valid driver's license (HR desirable)
  • Knowledge in civil works and road WHS & policies
  • A current satisfactory national police certificate
