About the Role

This Waste Management Specialist role at Ipswich City Council offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment and contribute to the growth of the Ipswich region. As part of the Ipswich Waste Services team, you will be responsible for collecting, recovering, and disposing of domestic, commercial, and other waste in a safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly manner.

The successful candidate will work with a modern fleet of vehicles, operating a variety of equipment to provide essential services to customers while maintaining a high level of safety and reliability. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge of waste management practices and procedures while working in a supportive and inclusive team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, recover, and dispose of waste from domestic, commercial, and industrial sources
  • Operate heavy machinery and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of waste collection and disposal activities

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A HR Class licence or higher, or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe
  • Pride in your safe driving skills and a passion for environmental sustainability

Additional Requirements:

  • Pre-employment medical checks, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Ability to work a rolling roster, including night shifts and weekends

About the Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary package, with an estimated annual salary of $74,000-$81,000, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to a generous base salary, you will also receive:

  • Superannuation of 13.5%
  • Four day working week, with 9.5 hours per day and a rolling roster
