Lead Health and Ecological Risk Specialist

Epic Environmental seeks an expert to drive high-level risk assessments across Australia. As a national technical lead, you'll mentor a growing team and guide clients through complex challenges.

This role requires strategic thinking, strong leadership, and excellent communication skills. You'll develop and implement comprehensive risk assessments that inform critical decisions on infrastructure, contaminated land, mining, and industrial redevelopment projects.

  • Deliver in-depth human health and ecological risk assessments for contaminated sites
  • Develop Conceptual Site Models (CSMs) and exposure assessments
  • Interpret toxicological, site, and exposure data to inform health/ecological risks
  • Review or prepare site-specific risk-based criteria
  • Advise clients, auditors, and regulators on site management strategies
  • Support business development and proposal writing
  • Mentor and train emerging risk assessors within the team
Requirements
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Toxicology, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or related field
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in risk assessment roles (consulting or regulator)
  • Strong knowledge of NEPM, CRC CARE, enHealth, and relevant state-based frameworks
  • Experience working on complex industrial or contaminated land sites
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • A collaborative mindset and genuine interest in mentoring others
