Early Childhood Educator Position

At the Province of Nova Scotia Regional Centres for Education, we are seeking highly skilled and dedicated individuals to fill Casual Early Childhood Educator positions.

Casual Early Childhood Educators will work collaboratively with the Pre-Primary Facilitator and Lead Early Childhood Educator to create a supportive and secure environment for young children in our Pre-primary Program.

The ideal candidate will possess a Diploma in Early Childhood Education or be working toward an Early Childhood Diploma, along with an in-depth understanding of child growth and development. They should also have demonstrated knowledge and experience using a play-based pedagogy and child-centered, developmentally appropriate practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with members of the Pre-primary Program Team to ensure a high-quality learning environment
  • Develop and implement engaging educational programs that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Support the Lead Early Childhood Educator in maintaining a safe and healthy environment
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education or working toward an Early Childhood Diploma
  • In-depth understanding of child growth and development and demonstrated knowledge and experience using a play-based pedagogy and child-centered, developmentally appropriate practices
  • Knowledge of health, hygiene, and safety protocols, including personal/physical care and the safe transfer of students
  • Ability to collaborate with members of a team and maintain confidentiality and privacy protocols
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with sensitivity and respect for diversity
