Drilling Specialist

Thiess offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled Drilling Specialist to join our team at QCoal Northern Hub. Reporting to the Drill & Blast Supervisor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality drilling solutions and results.

The QCoal Northern Hub is located in the Bowen Basin, Central Queensland, approximately 200 kilometres northwest of Mackay and 6 kilometres south of Collinsville.

You will work on a 7 on, 7 off roster and be required to:

• Work in accordance with site procedures;
• Accurately check the quality and depth of drill holes and record ground conditions that may affect blasting;
• Maintain a clean and tidy drill rig and address any maintenance faults;
• Demonstrate a positive attitude towards regular and reliable drill metres, rig utilisation and consumables usage;
• Provide neat and complete associated documentation for drill reports and pre-start checks;
• Regularly participate in safety assessments;
• Be willing to be trained across a variety of drill rigs in the fleet and show adaptability.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A minimum of 12 months' experience in drilling within the mining industry;
• Experience with rotary or top hammer drills;
• Relevant qualification to undertake the role of a driller;
• S11 or willingness to obtain.

As a Drilling Specialist with Thiess, you can expect:

• Retention Payment from July 2024, $10,000 paid in 52 weekly payments, inclusive of super;
