Job Overview

The Environmental Specialist role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with statutory environmental regulations. This position focuses on promoting environmental awareness, conducting monitoring and reporting, and supporting senior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote environmental awareness and training on environmental matters to personnel.
  • Conduct monitoring, reporting, and compliance to obligations on all environmental licenses and approvals.
  • Provide support to the Senior Environmental Advisor.
  • Assist with the development of environmental documentation and the submission of internal and statutory environmental reporting.
  • Assist in the maintenance and implementation of the Environmental Management System.
  • Champion site waste management initiatives.
  • Conduct inspections of working areas as per operational inspection schedules and government requirements.
  • Manage and report instances of non-compliance or environmental incidents.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in environmental management.

Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Previous experience in site-based environmental roles.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and GIS programs.
  • Driver's License (C Class, Manual).
  • Knowledge of Western Australian and Commonwealth environmental regulatory frameworks.
  • An understanding of Environmental Management Systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and independently.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
