As an Environmental Sustainability Specialist, you will play a critical role in overseeing field-based environmental monitoring activities, including surface water, groundwater, dust, and soil sampling. You will also be responsible for analyzing monitoring data against trigger levels and long-term trends for reporting purposes.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Developing and implementing strategies to reduce our environmental footprint and improve sustainability performance;
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement sustainable practices;
- Providing expert advice on environmental legislation and guidelines to ensure compliance;
- Leading incident investigations and identifying corrective actions to prevent future occurrences;
- Preparing annual statutory environmental compliance reports and ensuring accurate and timely submission.
Qualifications and experience required for this role include:
- A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or equivalent;
- 5+ years' experience in a relevant industry role, preferably in environmental sustainability or a related field;
- Proven knowledge of WA and Federal environmental legislation and guidelines;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner;
- Proficient with MS Office and general IT systems.
