Health Support Specialist

As a Health Support Specialist with the Joint Child Protection Response Program, you will play a critical role in providing health support to children and young people who have experienced sexual assault, physical abuse, and neglect. This includes non-offending parents/carers referred to JCPRP.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide timely, high-level advice on strategic, policy, and operational health issues to support children and young people.
  • Collaborate with Aboriginal services and community members to provide a culturally safe environment for peers, children, and families.
  • Develop and refine strategic relationships within and external to the organisation.
  • Independently problem-solve and set priorities in complex clinical situations.
  • Maintain co-operative professional and therapeutic relationships with key stakeholders and clients.
Requirements:
  1. Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Psychologist or relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work with eligibility to the respective Australian professional association.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with Aboriginal services, community members, and provide a culturally safe environment for peers, children, and families.
  3. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication verbal and written, consultation and negotiation skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to independently problem-solve and set priorities in complex clinical situations.
  5. Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities and/or understanding of issues surrounding child sexual assault, physical abuse, and neglect of children and family violence in Aboriginal communities.
  6. Evidence of a current unrestricted driver's licence and the ability to maintain.
