
Clinical Social Worker for Vulnerable Children

The Paediatric Palliative Care Social Worker plays a vital role in supporting patients and their families. This is an opportunity to work with a passionate and dedicated social work team who are committed to providing high-quality care and support.
The successful applicant will be well-supported by regular team meetings, safety huddles, and access to team consultation. They will also have the opportunity to develop their skills through ongoing education and training, including monthly team education sessions, departmental education, paediatric grand rounds, Schwartz Rounds, and online training.
About The RoleA typical week for this role involves providing emotional support, crisis intervention, care planning, and inter-agency coordination. This includes one-on-one sessions with children and/or families, attending weekly IDT meetings, home visits, liaising with external stakeholders, advocating for children/families, and providing ongoing education and support to staff throughout the district.
The successful applicant will possess strong emotional insight, clinical experience, and the ability to work confidently in a dynamic, multidisciplinary setting. Key skills and attributes include emotional resilience, child protection knowledge, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, clinical social work competence, and ethical integrity and professional judgement.
Key Responsibilities- Provide psychosocial support and assessment to children and/or families
- Attend weekly IDT meetings and participate in home visits
- Liaise with external stakeholders and advocate for children/families
- Provide ongoing education and support to staff throughout the district
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Minimum 3 years clinical experience in Paediatric Palliative Care
- Eligibility to drive and willingness to travel for work purposes
