At AGL, we're driving the energy transition with innovative solutions. As a key member of our Future Low Carbon Portfolio team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy generation and storage.

About the Role:

We're committed to closing our thermal assets and replacing them with renewable energy and battery storage. Our goal is to achieve 5 GW by 2030 and 12 GW by 2035. As part of this effort, you'll investigate and pilot emerging power generation and storage technologies that can help drive Australia's energy transition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare briefings and papers for the Board, investment committee, and SteerCo.
  • Coordinate and lead internal and external resources to obtain necessary permits and licenses for power project construction and operation.
  • Develop project budgets to progress projects through development phases to Final Investment Decision (FID).
  • Plan, monitor, manage risks, and report on all development phases.
  • Manage business case development for projects significant enough to be recommended for Board approval.
  • Conduct due diligence for potential acquisitions.

About You:

You'll be a passionate advocate for the energy transition, with a practical, technical, and commercial approach to implementing emerging power generation technology. Your strong technical and analytical skills, combined with your ability to influence outcomes across internal stakeholders, will be essential for success.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, potentially with additional commercial or financial studies.
  • Extensive experience in power generation or project development.
  • Deep understanding of the NEM rules and connection requirements.
  • Exposure to project development processes from concept through to investment commitment.
  • Advanced communication, interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong financial skills, including understanding complex financial models.

What We Offer:

  • Flexible working options, including hybrid work arrangements.
  • Discounts on energy, telcos, and solar plans.
  • Participation in Energise, our reward and recognition program.
  • Access to 20 weeks of paid parental leave for the primary carer.
  • Additional week of recharge leave per year.
  • Active role in our diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Novated leasing and Electric Vehicle subscriptions.
  • Access to study assistance, AGL's share purchase plan, and insurance deals.
