Senior Laboratory Operations Manager Position

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our laboratory. Your expertise in soil, aggregate, and concrete testing will enable us to provide high-quality services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage all laboratory activities, ensuring timely completion of projects and maintaining the highest standards of quality.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Lead and mentor a team of laboratory technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional growth and development.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all data generated by the laboratory, implementing robust quality control measures to maintain NATA compliance.
  • Collaborate with the QA Manager to develop and implement quality systems, ensuring seamless integration with existing processes.
  • Prepare and submit project reports, test schedules, and client information electronically, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
  • Oversee safe working conditions and proper PPE use among laboratory staff, promoting a culture of health and safety.
  • Manage sampling, testing, and reporting according to specifications, utilizing relevant test methods to deliver exceptional results.
  • Generate comprehensive test reports and invoices, reviewing them for accuracy and completeness before approval and issuance.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Drive operational, technical, and WHS quality standards, mentoring staff to achieve these goals.
  • Participate in business development initiatives, collaborating with the General Manager to identify new income streams and opportunities.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in geotechnical consulting and construction materials testing.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in soil, aggregate, and concrete testing, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, such as Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or Diploma/Degree in a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, with experience in developing and implementing quality systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including research, analysis, and evaluation.
  • Australian Driver's license and current or eligible Nuclear gauge license.
