Media and Communications Professional

A highly-regarded federal government agency seeks an enthusiastic media advisor to join their team. This role involves daily media monitoring, product development, and managing inquiries. Ideal for someone passionate about media and seeking to enhance their skillset in a professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and distribute daily media summaries, providing insightful analysis and reporting on key issues.
  • Maintain and update targeted lists of journalists and publications, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Manage media distribution, interview requests, and inquiries, responding promptly and professionally to stakeholder needs.
  • Collaborate with media monitoring suppliers to align services and update parameters, leveraging technology to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Prepare media reports, manage emerging risks, and support capability issues management, identifying and mitigating potential threats.
  • Maintain and update the talking point bank and media monitoring keyword briefs, staying informed and adaptable in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Monitor social media activity, collate reports, and identify emerging issues, analyzing trends and recommending strategic responses.
  • Draft media content including releases, responses, talking points, speeches, and social media posts, crafting compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Provide administrative support, including contract management and record-keeping, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations and efficient use of resources.
Key Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, media, public relations, journalism, or related field, or equivalent experience, demonstrating expertise and knowledge in the field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and effective team collaboration, fostering a culture of innovation and teamwork.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Teams, and Word, utilizing technology to streamline tasks and enhance productivity.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of media and social media channels, staying informed and adaptable in a rapidly changing digital landscape.
  • Understanding of rural and regional audience needs is beneficial, acknowledging the importance of diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Australian citizenship and preferably a current baseline clearance or the ability to obtain one, ensuring compliance with relevant security requirements.
