Primary School Music Teacher

The role of Primary School Music Teacher is pivotal in delivering a music education program that fosters excellence and attainment for each student's potential, in partnership with the Head of Primary Arts and Languages.

  • Deliver music education to primary-aged children, utilizing an inquiry-based learning approach and applying the Orff and Kodaly music education philosophies.
  • Support piano playing, choral experience, and knowledge of young children's voices and vocal technique is advantageous.

Key attributes include:

  • A valid ACT teacher's registration through the Australian Capital Territory Teaching Quality Institute or willingness to apply.
  • Curriculum knowledge and learning and teaching strategies from Pre-school to Year 6.
  • Early Years qualifications, or commitment to attain them in the first two years of the position.
  • A strong understanding of the Australian Curriculum and Performing Arts.
  • Demonstrated understanding of teaching music performance, composition, and musical concepts to primary-aged children.
  • Experience or specialty in music.

To be successful, candidates will possess:

  • A relevant tertiary degree and teaching qualification.
  • Excellent written English and effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent technological literacy across a range of applications.
