Substation Technician

Transgrid is seeking a skilled Substation Technician to join our team in Wagga Wagga. As a Substation Technician, you will play a critical role in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of substation assets.

• Perform tasks related to the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of substation assets
• Work with high voltage network assets and have experience as an electrician or equivalent
• Undertake a comprehensive training program to gather practical and technical expertise in substation electrical work
• Deliver all elements of tasks as required to meet customer expectations

• Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent Electrical Trades Course Certificate
• Experience in the maintenance, construction, and commissioning of relevant high voltage substations
• A current Australian Driver's License
• Good oral and written presentation skills
• Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
• Prepared to work away from their nominated headquarters for a reasonable period
• Ability to interpret schematics and wiring diagrams
• Willing to be included in a 'on call' roster to provide after-hours standby services and respond to system incidents

• NSW Fair Trading Electrical Supervisor Certificate or Contractor Licence
• An understanding or willingness to understand Substation Secondary Systems
• An understanding of diagnostic testing techniques for substation apparatus
• Currently authorised or be willing and capable to obtain authorisation for High Voltage Switching
• Expertise in fault finding including the interpretation of schematic diagrams
