Job Details

The role of Roster Manager is responsible for overseeing the administration and coordination of train crew rosters across various depots.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex roster data while adhering to rail safety principles and awards/EBA agreements.

This position requires effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment and contribute to providing equitable train services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain master rosters, ensuring a balanced work allocation while adhering to relevant business rules and regulations.
  • Manage roster data on the system, ensuring compliance with rostering principles and rail safety standards.
  • Ensure adequate roster coverage for planned and unplanned disruptions, guaranteeing driver availability for all services.
  • Allocate operational rosters in line with FAID requirements, taking into account training, leave, special events, and public holidays.
  • Oversee IT systems related to rostering, including data entry and management of train crew times.
  • Other duties include arranging accommodations for drivers and organizing medical appointments as needed.

About You

You have experience working in large-scale rostering environments, preferably within the transport or rail industries.

A strong communicator with excellent customer service skills, you can build rapport quickly and effectively.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Previous rostering experience in an operational environment would be advantageous, as is experience managing disruptions and supporting daily operational tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Prior experience applying EBA's is desirable, as is the ability to apply complex information accurately under pressure.
  • Proficient in MS applications and able to produce high-quality business reports by applying analytical processes to mixed data sets.
  • Ability to work on a rotating 24/7 shift basis, including weekends and public holidays.
