This role is based in a dynamic and innovative environment where the Software Engineering Manager - Innovation Leader will be responsible for:

  • Managing the Software and Firmware Engineering staff, responsible for hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Analyzing and understanding the organization as an interrelated system, identifying the impact of changes in one area on the whole system, and leveraging this understanding to innovate and transform the software development process.
  • Modeling effective habits in software engineering, fostering a proactive, goal-oriented approach to work, and designing processes that balance the needs of the team and the project.
  • Establishing the technologies and processes utilized by the team and facilitating the team's adoption of industry-leading practices.
  • Managing complex firmware design, coding, and debugging functions for multiple projects of major magnitude.
  • Designing, developing, and innovating software utilizing Object-Oriented Programming and Functional Programming at an expert level.
  • Directing all components of desktop environment, storage, database, monitoring, and automation tools.
  • Facilitating the team's use of DevOps, Agile development, pipeline delivery, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Working effectively with legacy code, analyzing, understanding, and improving existing codebases.
  • Improving the team's use of Test-Driven Development at an expert level to ensure code quality.
  • Directing and executing Continuous Deployment with Continuous Delivery and encouraging the rest of the team.
  • Designing, querying, and maintaining SQL databases at an expert level.
  • Establishing the use of Refactoring to Patterns, Design Patterns, Database Normalization, Object-Oriented Programming.
  • Implementing retrospectives at regular intervals.
  • Implementing Testing via Automation script or manual based on the product specification.
  • Facilitating hardware engineers in selecting and implementing devices.
  • Designing, transforming, and implementing communication and protocol standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent training and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 8 years of programming experience in Software and Firmware Development with 3 years of experience supervising Software and Firmware Development teams.
