Operational Technology Networks Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Operational Technology (OT) Networks Services function within our organization. The role will be responsible for owning the critical 24/7 services that underpin our operational assets, as well as managing significant volumes of change across our networks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the technical focal point for the OT Network, generating a detailed understanding of the network topology and performing technical deep dive network discovery where fuller understanding is required.
  • Assist in developing a network strategy as a component of the wider Operational Technology strategy, engaging with primary suppliers to enable the realisation of the network strategy.
  • Perform assessment of network risk, creating appropriate mitigations within the network strategy to minimise current and future risk.
  • Work closely with other OT teams, ensuring we provide the solution right first time.
  • Identify and evaluate new technology which may be beneficial to the network and projects, leading the evaluation of new and prospective network technologies, processes, and governance in support of the wider OT team.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in network management, operations, and support, including substantial network design work.
  • Proven ability to design and implement network technologies, such as LAN switching, WAN, QoS, and network traffic encryption.
  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with firewalls, preferably Palo Alto but other platforms considered.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications infrastructure, including fibre optic cabling, MPLS, DWDM, and microwave radio.
  • Strong knowledge of network security techniques and mitigations, ideally with insight into industrial control systems; CCNP accreditation or similar is desirable.
