The Family Support Specialist plays a vital role in nurturing the educational outcomes of Indigenous children aged birth to 12 years.
This holistic approach involves supporting families to improve their children's early development, school readiness, and overall wellbeing.
- Support families to enhance their children's early development, school readiness, and overall wellbeing
- Deliver family support and facilitated playgroups
- Provide parenting and early childhood education services
- Counsel and support young people who are vulnerable and at risk of homelessness
- Deliver early childhood intervention to individuals with a disability
- Qualifications in Community Services or relevant discipline and/or relevant work or life experience
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead group activities based on local need
