We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sweeper Operator to join our team at the City of Canning. As a permanent full-time employee, you will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a mechanical pavement sweeping vehicle to remove leaves, litter, and debris from footpaths, car parks, and streetscapes.
  • Safely navigate and operate the sweeper in various traffic and weather conditions.
  • Manually clean and remove rubbish where the pavement sweeper cannot access.
  • Maintain accurate records of sweeping activities.
  • Conduct daily maintenance checks and identify and report maintenance issues.
  • Attend pre-starts, tool-boxes, and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Assist engineering construction and maintenance teams as required, including support for larger road sweeper operations.
Requirements
  • Manual Medium Rigid MR class driver's license.
  • Previous experience operating mechanical road sweepers or heavy machinery is highly desirable.
  • Basic Traffic Management Certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months (funded by the City).
  • Practical understanding of road safety regulations and traffic management practices.
  • Proven ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Strong initiative and able to make decisions in the field.
  • Current Satisfactory National Police Clearance within 6 months' validity.
