Job Description

This role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of on-site construction staff, including subcontractors and their respective disciplines.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OH&S) legislative requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Organizing daily and weekly activities to ensure timely access to work faces for materials and equipment.
  • Reporting site activities that may result in delays, safety issues, or industrial unrest and taking necessary actions to mitigate problems.
  • Coordinating site staff and resources with the Project Manager to confirm availability when required.
  • Reviewing the construction program with the Site Manager and resequencing activities as needed to meet project completion deadlines.
  • Implementing and policing the company's policies and practices on safety, industrial relations, and quality assurance at the work face.
  • Maintaining quality and adhering to standards and contract documents.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

  • A degree or diploma in building or construction, or an equivalent recognized tertiary or trade qualification.
  • The ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening, and decision-making skills.
  • A high level of professionalism, maturity, and candour in their daily work ethic.
  • The capacity to apply logical thinking principles to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
