Cloud Security Engineer

This role will be responsible for enhancing the security posture of a leading telecommunications company.
You will play a critical part in protecting and resiliently operating cloud networks, using expertise in telecommunications, cloud security, automation, infrastructure as code, and cyber security.
A trusted adviser across cybersecurity, engineering, and DevOps teams, you will deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions. This hands-on technical role is central to strategy, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of platforms, networks, and services.
Key Responsibilities- Define and operationalise security controls across cloud and network platforms to protect the organisation and its customers.
- Embed secure-by-design principles into engineering processes, standards, and frameworks.
- Lead the design, integration, and support of diverse technologies that align with strategic roadmaps.
- Enhance automation and CI/CD practices to improve delivery velocity and quality at scale.
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders to ensure security solutions are practical and continuously improving.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers across different levels.
- Evaluate and manage vendor solutions for secure and reliable delivery outcomes.
- Document technical decisions and implementations to support knowledge sharing and operational excellence.
- Participate in on-call rosters for critical incident response.
- Solid experience in security engineering across networks, cloud, or DevSecOps environments.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native and traditional network security, infrastructure as code, micro-segmentation, and zero-trust architectures.
- Hands-on experience with telecommunications, TCP/IP, SDN, virtualised networks, automation, and scripting.
- Expertise in telco cloud platforms, including OpenStack, CNIS, and ECCD.
- Proven ability to deploy security capabilities via automation and CI/CD.
- Familiarity with Agile practices and tools.
- Strong understanding of frameworks and standards such as SOCI, NIST, GSMA, and 3GPP.
