Job Title: Surface Preparation and Protective Coating Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Surface Preparation and Protective Coating Specialist to join our team at Kwinana. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for surface preparation and protective coating of tank internal & external equipment, structures, and components onsite.

You will work closely with our Tank Turnaround team to ensure that all surfaces are properly prepared and coated to meet industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform abrasive blasting (grit/sand blasting) to clean and prepare metal surfaces in accordance with industry standards.
  • Apply industrial coatings, primers, and protective paints using airless or conventional spray equipment.
  • Read and interpret job specifications and coating system requirements.
  • Ensure surface preparation and coating applications meet quality assurance and safety standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of painted surfaces for quality control.
  • Operate and maintain blasting and painting equipment safely and effectively.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum 4 years' experience in industrial abrasive blasting and painting.
  • Relevant trade qualifications or certifications in surface preparation and painting.
  • A valid White Card (Construction Induction Card).
  • A current Driver's License.
  • The ability to pass a VOC assessment.
  • Working at Heights, Confined Space, and Gas Test Atmosphere certifications within the last 2 years.
