Job Overview:

The role of Support Specialist demands an exceptional individual who can provide dedicated, high-quality support to those affected by family, domestic, and sexual violence.

About the Role:
  • Offer real-time guidance and operational assistance to frontline staff to ensure a trauma-informed service delivery approach.
  • Monitor live services to identify potential risks, intervene in critical situations, and maintain operational continuity.
  • Promote safe and effective support for individuals at risk through enhanced real-time assistance, safety planning, and referrals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive support to victim-survivors as they navigate financial aid options and transition out of violent relationships.
  • Guide staff in providing trauma-informed responses that prioritize safety, autonomy, and well-being.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, mental health, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification in one of the following: Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Criminology, Community Practice.
  • Registration with a relevant professional association (e.g., Australian Counselling Association, Australian Association of Social Workers).

Essential Experience:

  • At least 4 years of experience in family, domestic, and sexual violence services, including direct client support and safety planning.
  • A minimum of 1 year of people management or operational coordination experience, including real-time service monitoring, quality assurance, and complaints handling.
Skill Set:
  • Effective decision-making in high-pressure environments.
  • Critical case review, second approvals, and appeals management.
  • Risk management, crisis intervention, and mandatory reporting support.
