Job Opportunity

We are seeking a strategic Waste Planning and Strategy Leader to drive innovative solutions and policies that align with our environmental goals.

  • Develop and manage key waste contracts, projects, and service agreements to meet council objectives.
  • Lead strategy and policy initiatives to address current and emerging waste challenges.
  • Coordinate project teams, consultants, and contractors to deliver waste-related programs and plans.
  • Collect and analyze waste data to improve service delivery and inform decision-making.
  • Provide expert advice on waste planning, including development assessments.
  • Represent the council at industry forums and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Support the development of community strategic documents.
  • Lead a team and foster a positive work culture.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Project Management, or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Proven project management experience in municipal waste or environmental services.
  • Strong technical understanding of waste strategies, contracts, and regulatory requirements.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and policy development skills.
  • Experience in managing DAs and advising on waste infrastructure planning.
  • Class C Driver's Licence.
