
Science Curriculum Specialist

The Science Coordinator is a key leadership position within the Curriculum Leadership team. The role will work closely with various stakeholders, including the Curriculum Coordinator, Instructional Coach, e-Learning and Student Learning Performance Coordinator, Maths/Numeracy Leading Teacher, and all Science teachers.
The Science Coordinator reports to the Assistant Principal responsible for Teaching and Learning and the Assistant Principal responsible for Staff Professional Development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional classroom teaching practice and undertake leadership roles commensurate with their salary range.
- Promote and drive improvement strategies as outlined in College policy documents of practice in the Teaching and Learning, Staff Operations and Student Wellbeing Handbooks.
- Lead a Professional Development Team.
- Maintain regular communication with the Curriculum Leadership Team to plan Teacher Professional Development.
- Promote the embedding of the College Instructional Model in teacher practice.
- Promote the use of Compass to ensure visibility of learning.
- Develop and refine a STEM curriculum in the College, collaborating with other leaders.
- Oversight of teachers in the Science Domain.
- Support staff members to improve their teaching practice via observation and discussion.
- Facilitate communication to staff about effective teaching pedagogy and College improvement foci.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of relevant curriculum.
- Able to lead and manage implementation of school priorities and teaching of literacy and numeracy skills across curriculum.
- Exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Able to model behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values and support colleagues to adopt these behaviours and attitudes.
- Able to reflect on own, others, and whole-school practice and contribute to provision of whole-school professional learning.
