About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineer in the Australian Defence Force, you'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the ship's mechanical engineering plant. This includes power, propulsion, and auxiliary systems. You'll be a trusted member of the ship's Command Team, providing technical advice and recommendations to achieve the mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain ship structures, propulsion systems, electrical generation and distribution, and domestic and associated mechanical services.
  • Oversee main and auxiliary machinery, diesel and gas turbine engines, automatic and remote-control systems, hydraulic systems, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, and ventilation systems.
  • Lead a team of marine technicians and provide technical guidance and support.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of technical policies and procedures.
