Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Surface Preparation Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals with integrity who can bring a positive attitude to the position.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing surfaces for painting, including abrasive blasting and industrial painting. They will also be required to select paints, varnishes and stains to various surfaces using brushes, sprays, and rollers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reading blueprints/instructions, examining and understanding surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary
  • Making work preparation such as scaffolding, covering fixtures
  • Understanding and completing works to specifications
  • Mixing correct ratio two-part paint coatings etc.
  • Proper appropriation of consumables and materials to avoid wastage
  • Selecting paints, varnishes and stains to various surfaces using brushes, sprays, and rollers
  • Understanding the use of Wet Film Thickness Gauges and achieving specified dry film thickness
  • Able to carry out minor repairs as and when deemed necessary
  • Working at heights and in confined spaces
  • Erecting scaffolding and ladders
  • Cleaning equipment and work areas
  • Supporting other team members to ensure completion of projects on-time and in accordance to specification

Requirements

  • Trade Certificate - Certificate III in Surface Preparation or equivalent (for Blaster/Painters)
  • High Risk Licence for EWP and/or Forklift
  • Trade Qualifications in Protective Coatings (ACA, NACE, ICorr, or other trade certs)
  • HR licence, high risk licence with EWP and Forklift
  • Drivers Licence (MR or HR class)
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, organised, punctual and reliable
  • Must have great work ethics
