
Mental Health Recovery Specialist

This role offers a unique opportunity to utilize your lived experience of mental health challenges to support individuals in achieving their recovery and wellness goals. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will work collaboratively with clients to build daily living skills, strengthen social connections, and foster a sense of purpose.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draw on your lived experience to build connection, offer hope, and support others on their recovery journey.
- Deliver high-quality services that respond to the unique needs of each client, offering a flexible and person-centred approach.
- Provide resources and support to help individuals foster positive relationships with those important to them.
- Participate in regular training, peer co-reflection, and professional development to strengthen your practice.
- Support clients to navigate services and connect with community supports that help them build confidence, independence, and meaningful participation in daily life.
- Actively contribute to co-design and service improvement, championing the voice and leadership of people with lived experience.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core and/or Advanced Training is desirable but not required.
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) are required in Mental Health, Peer Work, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), or other health-related fields.
- Previous experience in using lived experience and expertise in a dedicated Peer role is strongly desirable.
- Experience, expertise, and/or desire to work directly with people with mental health issues, as well as their families and carers.
- Experience and/or commitment in providing empathic person-centred relational support.
