Job Summary

Maas Group, a leading geotechnical company, is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team in Sydney. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing health and safety systems and strategies to ensure a positive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Implement Health and Safety Systems: Collaborate with laboratory managers and project managers to design and implement health and safety systems and strategies that meet legislative, group, and client requirements.
  2. Lead Risk Assessments and Hazard Reporting: Conduct risk assessments, SWMS, hazard reporting, and proactive safety measures to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  3. Maintain Health and Safety Reporting Systems: Develop and maintain health and safety reporting systems to monitor incidents and injuries, and identify areas for improvement.
  4. Conduct Internal Audits and Site Inspections: Conduct internal audits and site inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards.
  5. Collaborate with Workers: Collaborate with workers to improve the identification of hazards and risks, and develop safety strategies to manage areas of non-compliance.
  6. Assist with Return-to-Work Coordination: Assist with return-to-work coordination for employees who have been injured or ill.
  7. Conduct Health, Safety, and Environmental Performance Monitoring: Conduct regular monitoring of health, safety, and environmental performance to identify areas for improvement.
  8. Assist with EPA Requirements: Assist with ensuring compliance with EPA requirements for storing and managing radioactive devices.
  9. Onboard New Employees: Assist with onboarding new employees to MacGeo safety policies and procedures.
  10. Deliver Safety Training: Develop and deliver safety training sessions to employees.
Requirements
  1. Relevant Qualifications: Hold a minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
  2. Strong Understanding of Work Health and Safety Legislation: Have a strong understanding of work health and safety legislation, including acts, regulations, codes of practice, and standards.
  3. Operating Knowledge and/or Health and Safety Experience: Have operating knowledge and/or health and safety experience in laboratories, geotechnical engineering, or drilling services.
  4. Experience in Health and Safety: Have experience in health and safety, preferably on project work.
  5. Intermediate Computer Literacy: Have intermediate computer literacy in Microsoft Office programs and systems.
  6. Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills: Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to be self-directed.
  7. Excellent Attention to Detail: Have excellent attention to detail, and be self-motivated with the ability to handle, organize, and prioritize multiple projects/tasks.
