Veterinary Critical Care Nurse Specialist

The Animal Referral Hospital is seeking a skilled Veterinary Critical Care Nurse Specialist to join its dynamic team in Melbourne, Australia.
About the RoleThis part-time or full-time position offers a challenging and rewarding career opportunity for a dedicated individual to work with a high-volume, well-equipped clinic in the heart of Melbourne. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to expand their nursing skills and knowledge daily in a fast-paced environment.
The role involves working closely with experienced veterinarians and nurses to provide exceptional patient care, triage, and critical care support. Responsibilities include:
- Triage and assessment of patients presenting to the Emergency department
- Providing all aspects of in-patient nursing care for critical care patients
- Assistance with anesthesia procedures and surgery
- Performing diagnostic sample collection and processing tests
- Communication with owners and referring veterinarians
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Certificate IV in veterinary nursing (or equivalent qualification)
- Experience working in a multi-specialist or emergency and critical care facility (beneficial but not essential)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability
The Animal Referral Hospital offers a generous remuneration package, including significant shift loading for all shifts outside weekday daytime hours. Our hospital is well-equipped with modern facilities, and our team is committed to providing the highest standard of patient care in a supportive and progressive environment. Continuing education is strongly encouraged through regular tutorials and daily rounds.
As a Veterinary Critical Care Nurse Specialist at our hospital, you can expect to work a combination of day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements to suit your needs.
SalaryThe estimated annual salary for this role is $70,000-$90,000 AUD, depending on experience and qualifications.
