Job Overview

The role of a Heavy Motor Underwriting Leader involves overseeing the management of our Heavy Motor program.

This position requires strong stakeholder relationship management, portfolio management, account underwriting, and underwriting referrals skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategy for engagement, growth, and profitability with our program partner.
  • Manage underwriting referrals from partners by providing clarification, training, and understanding of our risk appetite.
  • Establish guidelines and authority levels for the program partner.
  • Cultivate new offerings to contribute towards the growth of our Marine book of business.
  • Collaborate with functional areas to onboard and manage existing programs: Operations to develop operational standards, Actuarial to develop pricing and monitor profitability, Legal to draft contracts and establish compliance standards, and Claims in servicing our claims proposition.
  • Lead program audits (both annually and 90-day).
  • Resolve escalations from partners to the best outcome.
  • Provide monthly reporting updates and analysis for quarterly business reviews.
  • Contribute to the development or modification of policy coverage.

A minimum of 10 years of insurance experience, underwriting experience, and knowledge of motor risks is required. Strong communication skills, negotiation experience, and team building skills are also essential.
