About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Youth Health Specialist to join our team at the Women's and Children's Health Network. As a Youth Health Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Engaging young men and young fathers who are disadvantaged and/or vulnerable to access and navigate through specialized primary health care services.
  • Delivering therapeutic trauma specialist counselling and group services to young men/young fathers at risk of, or impacted by Domestic and Family Violence.
  • Developing and delivering quality outcomes for clients through the provision of youth health care services within a therapeutic counselling approach, aligned to the Metropolitan Youth Health Model of Care.
  • Improving service access and outcomes for young people and young pregnant and parenting people through working in partnership with young people and their families and in collaboration with other health professionals and government and community agencies.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to:

  • Critically analyse and respond to the changing needs of the clients and the organisation.
  • Work within a gender accountability framework when working with young fathers and their partners in a DFV context.
  • Provide high standard of therapeutic counselling service and support of young men/young fathers; in assessment, case planning and health care services within a one to one and trauma specialist approach to young men/young fathers with complex needs.
  • Engage with young men and young fathers, both in an individual and group work capacity.
  • Lead collaborative work activities, prioritise workloads and meet set timelines, whilst working under minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training and development programs.
