Role Overview


The Department of the House of Representatives seeks a highly skilled and experienced Inquiry Secretary to join its small secretariat team. This senior officer role involves providing research, advisory, report writing and administrative support to one or more parliamentary committees.


About the Role


The successful candidate will manage the planning and conduct of committee inquiries and provide advice to committee chairs and members regarding parliamentary practice and procedure. The role requires occasional domestic travel to support the Committee and collaboration with senior executive stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities



  • Manage the planning and conduct of committee inquiries;
  • Provide research and advisory support to committee chairs and members;
  • Write reports and provide administrative support to the committee secretariat;
  • Liaise with senior executive stakeholders and provide advice on parliamentary practice and procedure.

Selection Criteria


The successful candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as experience in managing complex projects and working in a fast-paced environment. They will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to produce high-quality reports and other documents.
