The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and implement innovative Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems for advanced rockets. This involves working with a talented team to design, analyze, and test vehicles and subsystems for highly reliable flight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Develop GNC Systems: Create cutting-edge GNC systems that enable mission-critical capabilities and leading-edge launch vehicle performance.
- Conduct Multidisciplinary Investigations: Investigate and define the systems architecture through multidisciplinary vehicle systems investigations and design work.
- Implement New Software and Algorithms: Develop and implement new software or algorithms to enhance mission unique capabilities and improve launch vehicle performance.
- Develop 6-DOF Dynamics Simulation Models: Create simulation models used for GNC systems analysis and validation.
- Analyze Launch Vehicle Trajectories: Analyze launch vehicle trajectories, performance dispersions, and flight stability.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in physics or an engineering discipline.
- Experience: Experience with control systems, orbital mechanics, classical dynamics, modeling, and simulation.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python or C++ programming languages.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postgraduate Degree: Postgraduate degree in physics or an engineering discipline.
- Advanced Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in control systems, orbital mechanics, classical dynamics, aerodynamics, sensors and actuators, modeling and simulation, and C++ and Python programming languages.
- Launch Vehicle Experience: Demonstrated project or professional experience in launch vehicle and/or spacecraft system.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
