Pastry Chef

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Pastry Chef to join our national bakery team.

About the Role
  • Maintain a kitchen environment that promises flair, creativity, and consistency in the quality of menu items with consistent taste and appearance.
  • Be multi-skilled and lead teams in all areas of food production and assembly.
  • Ensure correct stock rotation is adhered to, ensuring minimal/no product wastage.
  • Prioritize and manage workload to meet cold soak requirements and pickup times.
  • Prepare complex, and exotic dishes to specification.
  • Provide feedback regarding shortfalls in production process to improve process and exceed customer service expectations.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff as required.
  • Perform activities working to passenger load requirements and airline specifications.
  • Participate in customer menu development and presentation.
  • Comply with hygiene, safety, quality, customer service, right first time and performance standards.
  • Comply with all food safety requirements including personal hygiene, good manufacturing practice (GMP), food handling and storage requirements.
  • Comply with customer and legislative HACCP requirements.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated success in a similar role.
  • Trade qualified chef with at least 3 years experience in a high volume food production environment.
  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment preferred but not essential.
  • Advanced knowledge of HACCP / QSAI / Food Safety and OHS.
  • Prior experience in a HALAL working environment and knowledge regarding segregation and separation of equipment.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work across a 7-day rotating roster.
  • Obtain a clear National Police Check.
