The role of the Animal Welfare Officer is to ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulations for the care and use of animals in research and teaching. This involves providing strategic advice on animal welfare practices, collaborating with senior leaders and supporting the Animal Ethics Committee (AEC).

About You
A veterinary degree or extensive practical experience in animal welfare is essential. Deep knowledge of legislative and regulatory frameworks governing animal welfare, along with proven experience in the ethical use of animals in research and teaching, are also required. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to deliver high-level advice and training.
Skill Requirements:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with senior leaders and team members.
- Possession of a veterinary degree or equivalent experience in animal welfare.
- Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory frameworks governing animal welfare.
- Proven experience in the ethical use of animals in research and teaching.
Benefits and Special Requirements:
A current C Class Driver's Licence is required, as well as availability to take work-related calls after hours and occasional weekend visits to animal facilities.
