About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Melbourne High School. As a key member of our wellbeing team, you will play a vital role in enhancing the mental health and wellbeing of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of whole-school health and wellbeing plans, working closely with teaching staff and school leadership to address student mental health and wellbeing.
  • Provide early intervention services, including short-term counselling, for students identified as at-risk or experiencing mild to moderate mental health concerns.
  • Coordinate supports for students with complex needs, working collaboratively with regional mental health services, local health providers, and other professionals to engage further support as required.
Requirements
  • Qualifications as a psychologist, social worker, mental health nurse, occupational therapist, or counsellor of a prescribed class.
  • Demonstrated direct counselling experience and a current Working With Children Check.
  • Specialisation in educational and/or developmental psychology for psychologists, or holding a Mental Health Nurse Credential and membership with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses for mental health nurses.
  • Membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers for social workers, or a Better Access to Mental Health Endorsement for occupational therapists.
  • Level 3-4 registration with the Australian Counselling Association or a Registered Clinical Counsellor endorsement with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia for counsellors.
