About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Planning Officer to join our team in Gympie. As a Planning Officer, you will be responsible for assessing development applications, providing recommendations, and collaborating with Design Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess development applications, including material change of use, lot reconfiguration, and building work.
- Provide timely and informed recommendations, incorporating policy, legislation, and agency responses.
- Collaborate with Design Services to process operational work applications.
- Evaluate applications for compliance assessment, including landscaping and survey plans.
- Prepare detailed reports on development assessment matters.
- Provide consistent advice on land use planning to internal and external stakeholders.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree or post-graduate qualification in planning recognized by the Planning Institute of Australia.
- Demonstrated experience in statutory planning or development assessment, with the ability to resolve complex planning issues.
- Knowledge of statutory requirements relevant to development assessment in Queensland.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective report writing and stakeholder engagement.
- Commitment to delivering excellent customer service and maintaining positive community relations.
Desirable Qualifications
- Understanding of planning issues specific to the Gympie Region.
- Qualifications or experience in natural resources, landscape architecture, architecture, or urban design.
