Job Title: Diesel Fitter Leading Hand

This is a highly skilled leadership position that involves overseeing workshop operations, coordinating Komatsu rebuilds, and ensuring the efficient delivery of maintenance and repair works across a large heavy equipment fleet.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced technician with strong knowledge of Komatsu equipment to join our team in Mackay. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supervising a team of diesel fitters and trades assistants working on Komatsu 830E/930E haul trucks and other OEM fleets.

  • Lead and supervise a team of diesel fitters and trades assistants.
  • Allocate and manage daily tasks based on workload and technician capability.
  • Provide technical leadership, troubleshooting support, and hands-on guidance.
  • Ensure all jobs meet quality assurance requirements and are delivered on schedule.
  • Maintain detailed records of job scopes, parts used, labour hours, and compliance documentation.
  • Support project planning and forecasting.
  • Champion and enforce workshop safety protocols, housekeeping standards, and adherence to OEM specifications.
  • Assist in the onboarding and development of new team members.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a Leading Hand or supervisory workshop role.
  • Experience with Komatsu mining equipment (830E/930E experience highly desirable).
  • Trade-qualified Diesel Fitter (Cert III or equivalent).
  • High-level fault-finding, diagnostic, and component rebuild capabilities.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and coordinate workshop teams.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience working within planned maintenance systems and job management processes.
