Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Water Resources Engineer to join our team in Melbourne. As a key member of our water resources team, you will be responsible for delivering innovative solutions to local and state government clients, as well as private sector companies.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in floodplain and stormwater management, with a strong background in hydrology, hydraulics, and groundwater modeling. You will have expertise in numerical modeling tools such as TUFLOW, RORB, URBS, HEC-RAS, MUSIC, and GOLDSIM, as well as solid experience with GIS applications like QGIS, ArcGIS, and MapInfo.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement water resources projects, including floodplain and stormwater management initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver project outcomes
  • Maintain and improve existing relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, best practices, and regulatory requirements
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or ability to achieve this status within 6 months
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • An accredited bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
  • 15+ years of recent local experience in flood modeling and mapping, infrastructure design, and/or catchment management
  • Knowledge of relevant Melbourne Water technical specifications and best practices in flood modeling
  • Experience working with federal, state, and local legislation, regulatory frameworks, guidelines, and policies
  • Ability to provide technical guidance to junior engineers
