Senior Cloud Geospatial Developer

We seek an accomplished Senior Cloud Geospatial Developer to join our engineering group. As a key team member, you will design and maintain next-generation cloud-based geospatial services handling large data volumes.

Ideal candidates have experience working with high-technology companies developing scalable services in the GIS, mapping, and/or geospatial data space.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform technical design, development, testing, and code reviews of enterprise-scale geospatial services.
  • Participate in team activities including story breakdown sessions, sprint planning, effort estimation, code reviews, NFR assessments, and architectural reviews.
  • Evaluate, prototype, and recommend next-generation cloud-native data delivery technologies.
  • Assess, refactor, and optimize high-volume repository transaction and distribution channels.
  • Implement data quality management capabilities, monitoring tools, and associated governance controls/reporting.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and RCA process for production issue escalations.
  • Create clear and concise technical documentation, production support runbooks, and quality metrics.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of professional experience building enterprise-scale real-time and batch-based data distribution capabilities.
  • Extensive experience using modern technologies, frameworks, and cloud tools (Kubernetes, Postgres, S3, SQS, etc.).
  • Expertise in modern development languages (Go and/or C# preferred).
  • Experience working with large geospatial raster and vector datasets.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based large SQL databases including performance tuning, query optimization, and partitioning.
  • Test-driven development mindset with a focus on code quality, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Previous experience building enterprise-caliber, event-driven distributed systems using cloud-based architectural patterns and infrastructure.
  • Domain-based data architecture, metadata management, and data quality knowledge.
  • Strong oral and written English skills are required.
  • Collaborative working style with a focus on delivering quality outcomes.
