Environmental Liabilities Consultant

As a subject matter expert in environmental liabilities, you will play a pivotal role in guiding our clients through complex regulatory landscapes and facilitating the effective management of stakeholder expectations associated with asset closures.

Your expertise in cost estimating and modelling for the closure/rehabilitation of large resources assets will be invaluable in supporting our clients' asset closure strategies and costs.

You will work closely with our financial assurance teams to assess the reasonableness of closure plans and cost estimates that underlie our clients' reported closure and environmental provisions. This collaboration will also involve developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key decision-makers, both internally and externally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting clients to develop and implement effective asset closure strategies
  • Collaborating with EY's financial assurance teams to evaluate closure plans and cost estimates
  • Communicating findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders
  • Contributing to the development of strategies, solutions, methodologies, analytical frameworks, and tools to help clients succeed

A deep understanding of common asset closure techniques, materials, and equipment, as well as knowledge of closure policy, legislation, guidance, and standards across Australia, is essential for this role. Ideally, you will also have experience completing or participating in financial assurance processes or working on operating sites.
