About the Role

As a Sexual Health Nurse at Alfred Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality sexual health care to our diverse client group. You will work in a multidisciplinary team, interacting sensitively and non-judgmentally with clients and colleagues alike.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct clinical services for clients at risk of or concerned about blood-borne viruses (BBVs), STIs, and their sexual health.
  • Assess, prioritize, test, and treat clients through our open-access, walk-in triage system (WITS).
  • Provide specific HIV care for people living with HIV in our HIV service, operating on an ambulatory model of care.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive follow-up of client results.
  • Support and educate peers and students in sexual health nursing practices.
Requirements
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.
  • Experience in providing sexual health nursing care.
  • Accredited Nurse Immuniser.
  • Ability to perform HIV testing in accordance with the ASHM HIV testing guidelines.
  • Willingness to undergo Police Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Accredited Cervical Screening Nurse (CST/pap provider).
Desirable Qualifications
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification or working towards postgraduate qualification in sexual health and/or HIV or relevant field.
  • At least 2 years' experience as a sexual health nurse, community AOD, or other relevant nursing experience.
