Delivering a Nationally Cohesive Net Zero Strategy is a pivotal role within the Australian Public Service.

About the Position

This project officer will play a key part in steering the country towards its ambitious goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. The APS Net Zero initiative will be centered in Canberra, with collaboration between the Property and Construction Division and the Commercial and Government Services Group.

Responsibilities
  • Promote nationwide strategies to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030
  • Develop data-driven policy frameworks to support this work
  • Foster cross-agency engagement across government and private sectors
  • Engage external expertise as necessary
  • Collaborate with staff from all agencies to enhance APS capabilities for net zero outcomes
  • Identify and implement greenhouse gas emissions reduction opportunities in their respective agencies
  • Contribute to comprehensive whole-of-government reporting obligations
