About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and friendly Library Assistant to join our dynamic team at Orange City Council. As a key member of our Central West Libraries team, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to library patrons and supporting daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide lending and basic information services to library patrons
  • Operate the Library Management System (LMS) for circulation and enquiry functions
  • Assist patrons to use IT resources and applications
  • Shelving and tidying resources accurately
  • Taking payments and ensuring accurate cash handling

Requirements

  • Previous library experience is desirable, even volunteering at your school library
  • Well-developed communication skills both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to work and contribute as part of a team
  • Digital literacy skills in the use of a variety of technology
  • Ability and availability to work within a roster which will include evenings and weekends
  • A current Working with Children Check clearance number and satisfactory criminal record check if aged 18 or over
