About the Role

The Water and Resource Recovery section at Townsville City Council has recently undergone a review, aligning critical business functions to support efficient delivery of water, wastewater, and resource recovery services.

We are seeking a skilled Water Resources Engineer to assist with the development and implementation of our Integrated Water Management Strategy for Townsville. This includes participating in the development, delivery, and reporting on Water and Resource Recovery Capital and Operational plans.

As a key member of our team, you will provide input, problem-solving, and assistance with water treatment and network operations to support day-to-day operations, problem-solving, and water system optimisation.

This role involves delivering projects across three key areas:

  • Water Treatment Plant Upgrades
  • Dams Safety
  • Network Operations

To succeed in this position, you will need a bachelor's degree in civil, chemical, or environmental engineering and relevant experience in a water treatment or distribution-related field. You should be self-motivated, have developing problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated interest in developing skills and knowledge related to the water and wastewater industry.

We offer a competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including 17.5% annual leave loading, up to 5 weeks annual leave, and more.
