Psychology Internship Opportunity

This exciting internship program is designed to provide provisional psychologists with the opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.

As a psychology intern, you will have the chance to work with diverse client populations, including individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental health issues, and/or experiences of trauma who have complex needs.

Your role will involve completing assessments, providing psychological interventions, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality services.

About the Role
  • You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, including early childhood developmental assessment, FASD assessment, ASD assessment, psychosocial assessment, behavioural assessment, parenting capacity assessment, dementia assessment, forensic assessment, and assessments relating to learning difficulties, executive functioning, depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc.
  • You will provide psychological interventions, therapy, and behaviour support services using a range of modalities, including individual, family-based, and service system interventions.
  • You will work with a diverse range of client groups, including those funded through NDIS and Territory Families, who present with developmental trauma, developmental disability, neurodevelopmental disorders, traumatic brain injury, and mental health issues.

You will also have the opportunity to work regionally (e.g. Katherine, Alice Springs) and within remote Indigenous communities.

Requirements
  • You must have a Master's degree in Professional Psychology and eligibility for AHPRA registration;
  • You must be interested in working with people with intellectual disabilities, mental health issues, and/or experiences of trauma who have complex needs;
  • You must be interested in providing clinical and/or behaviour assessment, intervention, and support in the disability, out-of-home care, and/or other relevant sectors.

In addition, you must have:

  • A current and valid Driver's Licence;
  • A current and valid Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening, or the ability to attain these checks.

We offer a comprehensive supervision plan that meets the requirements for AHPRA registration, as well as primary and secondary supervision from workplace supervisors.

You will also receive monthly topic-based group supervision with facilitators from across our senior team, support to complete case studies, psychology exam, and other aspects of the AHPRA requirements.

Other benefits include flexible working hours, opportunities to work collaboratively with a professional multidisciplinary team, and opportunities for remote placements.

Following completion of your psychology internship, you will also have the opportunity to receive support and supervision to complete Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, or Educational Developmental Psychology endorsement if eligible.
