Occupational Health and Safety Officer Job Summary

This role involves ensuring the effective implementation of internal responsibility systems within various workplaces, including industrial, construction, institutional, forestry, fishery, and mining sectors. As a key member of our team, you will provide information, advice, and guidance to employers, contractors, employees, unions, equipment suppliers, and professionals regarding their duties and responsibilities under occupational health and safety regulations.

  • Conduct workplace inspections and complaint investigations, as well as investigate accidents, incidents, and allegations of discriminatory action.
  • Ensure compliance by issuing orders and initiating prosecution action when necessary.
Key Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A related trade or technical training in occupational health and safety, combined with 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to interpret and explain legislation in plain language terms.
  • Proficiency in computer programs, including Microsoft Office.
