About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Therapeutic Youth Worker to join our team at Life Without Barriers in Coffs Harbour. As a Therapeutic Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in providing direct support, care, and mentorship to children and young people living in Intensive Therapeutic Care homes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a Caring Relationship - Build a strong, trusting relationship with the young person, providing a safe and nurturing environment to promote their emotional wellbeing.
  • Meet Day-to-Day Needs - Ensure the day-to-day needs of children and young people are met, working within legislative requirements and LWB initiatives.
  • Provide Daily Care and Supervision - Provide daily care, supervision, and role modeling to support the young person's development and growth.
  • Facilitate Activities - Facilitate activities that connect the child or young person with their family, community, and culture, promoting self-efficacy and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support Education and Employment - Support the child or young person to participate in school, vocational training, or employment, promoting their independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Advocate for the Young Person - Effectively advocate for the views and needs of the young person, ensuring their voice is heard and respected.
  • Participate in Team Meetings - Participate in team meetings, reflective practice, and supervision, debriefing, and various support activities to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
  • Maintain High-Quality Record Keeping - Maintain accurate and up-to-date record keeping and documentation, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and LWB policies.

Requirements
  • Qualifications - Hold a Diploma in Community Services or a related field, or be willing to complete a Diploma offered by LWB.
  • Certifications - Possess current Provide First Aid and CPR certificates.
  • Driver's License - Hold an Australian Driver's License.
  • Professional Relationships - Demonstrate the ability to form and maintain professional, nurturing relationships with children and young people.
Selection Criteria
  • Probity Checks - Clear probity checks, including a National Criminal History Record Check and NSW Working with Children Check.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination - Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate.
