The East Fremantle Football Club is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven individual to fill the role of General Manager - Football Operations. This position is responsible for overseeing the entire football department's operational and strategic functions, ensuring that all football-related activities align with the club's strategic vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Football Strategy & Development:
- Develop and implement the club's football strategy in line with our overall mission, vision, and values.
- Oversee the development and implementation of short and long-term player recruitment and retention strategies.
- Ensure programs and structures are in place for the development and growth of senior and junior football talent.
- Team Performance & Coaching:
- Collaborate with the Head Coaches and coaching teams to ensure optimal team performance, training schedules, and matchday readiness.
- Implement best practices in coaching, sports science, and player development to ensure player progression.
- Manage player welfare, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement programs.
- Ensure alignment between the senior teams and player development pathways.
- Football Operations & Logistics:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the football department, including scheduling, training logistics, travel, and matchday management.
- Ensure that all football operations are compliant with WAFL rules, policies, and guidelines.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including WAFC and AFL clubs.
- Budgeting & Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the football department's budget in collaboration with the CEO and Finance Manager.
- Monitor expenditures and financial performance, ensuring resources are used efficiently.
- Lead the football department, fostering a culture of excellence, professionalism, and accountability.
- Ensure strong communication and collaboration between all departments within the football operations team.
- Promote a positive and inclusive environment that supports player wellbeing and development.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting:
- Provide regular reports and updates to the CEO, Board, and relevant committees on football department activities and progress.
- Engage with supporters, members, and the broader community to promote the club's football programs and build strong relationships.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in a senior football operations role, preferably within a WAFL, AFL, or similar high-performance environment.
- Strong understanding of football operations, player development, and talent pathways.
- Proven experience in managing budgets and financial oversight in a sporting context.
- Experience working with coaches, sports science, and player welfare programs.
- Leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead a team and create a high-performance culture.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- High level of organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
